Northern Colorado Fencers has been offering Summer Fencing Day Camps to boys and girls aged 8 to 12 for over 20 years. No previous fencing experience is necessary to participate in the beginning camps.
Fencing summer camps at NCF will introduce your child to the core skills, strategies and rules of the modern sport of fencing.
Camps are safe and fun, and participants learn the basics of using a fencing weapon for offense and defense, the rules of the sport, how to conduct bouts and tournament play, and how to be gracious in victory and how to profit from defeat.
Along the way, we’ll have fun games, challenging exercises and bouts with partners, and informative discussions about the sport and each fencer’s role in it.
Emphasis is on teaching a good understanding of the basics of fencing: footwork positions, attacking and defensive actions, and learning about the use of the equipment.
Fencing summer camps for young beginners are half-days (9 a.m. to noon), Monday through Friday, most weeks throughout the summer at our location in Boulder (1949 33rd Street). Pricing is $195/week.
We provide the equipment and the know-how for a safe, fun and exciting experience in the sport of modern fencing. Campers are encouraged to wear clothing they can comfortably exercise in, and bring a water bottle and a snack.
